2023 is here, and time to get your fishing game on! Here are 5 (*free!) apps we like that help us fish more effectively.

(*Most/all of these apps have paid features, although most anglers will find these beneficial without subscribing*)

  1. Fishweather. Wind direction & speed. This app also allows you to see wave height/frequency, and it will show you this data into the future to help you plan your trips more effectively.
  2. Navionics. Mapping, GPS capabilities, allows you to see bathymetric contours (think topographical map, but underwater) – lets you see ledges, drop offs, shallow areas, bridges, marinas, boat launches, etc. GPS capability lets you save waypoints, tracks, etc.
  3. Tide Charts. No-nonsense tide app lets you see low/high tides, moon phases for the next several days into the future. Without all the annoying crap that clutters most apps’ screens.
  4. My Radar. Easy to use, non-cluttered radar app. Shows you if it is raining where you’re headed to fish. My favorite weather app!
  5. Fish Rules. Created by Deer Meat For Dinner (Robert Arrington’s) big brother, this app keeps up with your GPS location, and shows you the rules for all your saltwater species: length requirements, slot lengths, creel limits, season closures, etc.
